Winter/Spring Intern (NY Media and Talent Relations)
Sony Picture Entertainment's (SPE) Spectrum Internship Program is a competitive internship program that provides eligible interns with exposure to the operations of a major entertainment studio. During the internship, interns will gain insight into the inner workings of the business and industry dynamics. In addition, interns will work on project-based assignments for the sponsoring department and participate in development events that will enhance their overall internship experience. We are seeking undergraduate, graduate, and JD students interested in an internship in the Media & Talent Relations department of Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE):
The Media and Talent Relations department of Sony Pictures Television strives to give its interns a complete understanding of all aspects of global publicity. We allow our interns to be a part of every step from brainstorming campaign ideas, helping publicists with pitch ideas, tracking press hits, attending press events and observing EPK/promo shoots to learning the importance of relationships with production, talent, talent representation, journalists and international broadcasters. Every day in the department is different and offers the intern a variety of tasks and new learning opportunities. We strive to include our interns in all meetings, to explain all tasks thoroughly and to allow them to follow through with all tasks from beginning to completion. We understand the importance of not only teaching the interns how to do a task, but teaching them the reasoning behind the task and the impact or use for the final product. Our goal is to give all interns a complete understanding of how publicity works on a global scale, how to create a publicity strategy, how to facilitate all steps of a publicity campaign and why publicity is important to the success of the product.
-The intern will work with domestic publicists to gain a valuable understanding of the steps and tasks necessary to launch a series and maintain publicity efforts throughout the season. They will be exposed to multiple press events, series launches, talent interviews and other events related to domestic publicity. -The intern will work with international publicists to provide broadcasters with the necessary assets to successfully sell, promote and launch a series. They will be exposed to multiple press events, talent tours and set visits, promo and Q&A shoots, hosting international contest winners and other events related to international publicity. They will also gain knowledge of key international markets and publications and journalists within those markets. -The intern will work with publicists on a global level to track valuable publicity assets and create useful publicity documents. This will allow them to learn the types of materials needed to promote a show (bios, character descriptions, episode loglines, press clips, quote sheets, fact sheets) as well as how to create them.
