Job Description:

Writing end-user documentation that engages educators and answers their questions about the products they’re using, how to access information on-line, how to navigate on-line reporting tools and more.

Responsibilities of Technical Writer:

  • Writing end-user documentation that engages educators and answers their questions
  • Using help and online learning development tools to create materials that enhance the user experience
  • Formatting and editing RoboHelp projects and Wiki pages to promote clarity, accuracy, and Wireless Generation style
  • Creating and editing graphics using screen capture utilities and Adobe Photoshop
  • Generating help builds and working with developers and quality assurance to ensure proper integration
  • Managing each document’s or help project’s lifecycle with efficiency and accuracy, maintaining and updating multiple branches as necessary
  • Discussing inconsistencies and questionable grammar with project managers

Requirements of Technical Writer:

  • Four-year degree with concentration in Computer Science, Journalism, Communications, or English followed by 1-3 years developing technical and end-user documentation (candidates are expected to provide samples and complete a writing test)
  • An understanding of the challenges teachers face as new technology is deployed in the classroom
  • Mastery of Adobe RoboHelp, Microsoft Office, and MediaWiki a must; experience with Adobe Dreamweaver, Photoshop, and HTML programming a plus
  • Meticulous attention to detail, commitment to producing quality products, and the ability to set and meet tight deadlines
  • Excellent organizational skills along with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
