This position manages a group of 6-12 product owners, scrum masters, release managers, and project managers that support development and support of software and services for a network communications system. The position is in the Engineering department of the AT&T Wi-Fi Services group, located in Austin, TX.
The system is composed of a linux-based appliance that we install at customer sites and which communicates back to an array of centralized servers that provide a variety of functions including networking, security, captive portal, monitoring, configuration, management, billing, and reporting.
This system is used to provide several services to customers and their end-users, including public Internet HotSpot services (both wired and wireless), as well as support for multiple backoffice applications through virtual private networking technologies. In addition, this platform is used to provide offload of cellular data traffic to the Wi-Fi network on a variety of smartphone, computing, e-reader, and other network device platforms.
We serve a variety of target markets, from distributed retail (food, clothing, etc.) to hospitality (hotels, airports, etc.) to education (universities) to a multitude of large venues including stadiums and convention centers.
The group uses tailored Kanban and Scrum Agile Software Development methodologies and tracks workflow predominantly using a customized Jira environment. Former experience with these concepts and practices is highly desired.
