This position is for an experienced Mobile engineer with a history of developing best of breed application frameworks or mobile applications.
The successful candidate will be part of a small team creating the next generation of Yahoo's mobile application development framework for all the latest mobile device platforms; including the iPhone, iPad and Android.
You will be working closely with other engineers on the Mobile Frontend platforms team to design and develop a framework and set of libraries for use by other developers to build complex interactive sites and mobile applications for the next generation of powerful handheld devices.
Job Requirements: - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computing Science or equivalent
- 6+ years experience in software engineering, with : - 2 years working on client application frameworks, mobile platforms or mobile applications (Native or Web) - 2 years developing on iPhone, iPad or Android
- Expert level experience with an object oriented programming languages, C++, Objective-C, Java - Expert level experience with mobile SDKs (Cocoa APIs, iPhone / iPad SDKs, Android SDK, Web OS) - Experience using Xcode, Interface Builder tools, Android Developments Tools and the Eclipse IDE - Strong programming and design skills, including strong understanding of design patterns - Good understanding scalability, performance and reliability aspects of developing an application or application framework for mobile - Understanding of mobile device and mobile network limitations. - Strong problem solving and analytical skills. - Excellent written and verbal communications skills. - Ability to tackle challenging problems on a tight schedule. - Experience developing performance driven web applications and knowledge of standard networking protocols (HTTP, TCP/IP, etc.) and methodologies (REST, SOA) - Experience writing XML, JSON and Web Services. - Strong Unix experience.
Any of the following a big plus : - Experience designing software application frameworks from the ground up. - Experience developing with XHTML, JavaScript, HTML5 and CSS / CSS3. - Experience developing for Webkit and/or WebOS. - Strong understanding of web standards, performance standards, accessibility and web development best practices.
