Sports Information Director (Public Affairs/Communications Specialist II)
Our University seeks a Sports Information Director for their Athletics department. The Sports Information Director (SID) has primary responsibility for the promotion of our University intercollegiate athletics, both to the campus community and the external community, and has significant impact on the success of our University sports information program. The SID is responsible for developing themes, concepts and ideas to promote and increase awareness of athletics events and programs. The SID maintains statistics, develops and writes press releases, and works with the media and SIDs from other college campuses to ensure that results are disseminated as quickly and effectively as possible to all media outlets. The SID regularly serves as media spokesperson and provides feature story ideas to local news outlets. The SID is also responsible for the development and creation of marketing materials, maintaining the Athletics website and social media outlets, and helping with other departmental projects.
Minimum Qualifications include:
Bachelor's degree plus a minimum of 3 years of related journalism /communications or athletic administration experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid Class C California Drivers License. Ability to work after hours, weekends, evenings, and possibly holidays. Ability to travel to away competitions.
Full-time, probationary position with benefits ending. Salary Range: $3,469 - $5,201/month Anticipated Hiring Salary: $3,469/month Opening Date: January 30, 2012 Closing Date: February 17, 2012
