Senior Finance Manager, Mobile Communications Business - 715346
The Mobile Communication Business group (“MCB”) develops, markets, and sells the Windows Mobile Phone operating system for Mobile Devices, as well as, services and applications that run on top of the operating system. The group also now includes the Zune Hardware group.
The MCB Finance Team is currently seeking a Senior Finance Manager to impact financial analysis and reporting processes primarily supporting the Zune Hardware and MDSC Hardware business groups, with opportunities to be become involved in other MCB projects. This is an excellent opportunity to grow your career within an emerging business at Microsoft. Additionally, this is a critical role that will allow you end-to end P&L visibility where your contributions will impact business and financial decision making.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Support monthly business reviews and the monthly accounting close process and ensure compliance of policy and controls. Requires extensive cross group collaboration with other finance and operations teams in E&D Finance Provide valuable analysis that influences decision making. Perform financial analysis supporting the leadership team to enhance effective decision making Monthly P&L and detailed COGS/operating expense financial reporting and metrics, and Scorecard Reporting Ownership of Contribution Margin reporting and analysis for Zune Hardware Manage balance sheet risk, report results to management and manage monthly balance sheet reconciliation process Manage OPEX where applicable (headcount/CPH, allocations) Business Partnering - Work closely with E&D Finance groups - Retail & Marketing, COGS and Supply Chain, MCB Central Finance and Zune & MDSC Hardware business partners to ensure P&L alignment Play a key role in the planning cycle (forecast, target setting, budgeting, strategy review/LRP) Identify efficiencies, process improvements, and help plan for organizational growth Participating in ad hoc finance project activities, as priorities determine
Qualifications: 7+ years demonstrated accounting/financial analysis work experience; BA/BS degree in Finance or Accounting, MBA or CPA highly valued Position requires strong planning, communication and cross group skills, as well as, being able to summarize key business drivers and issues and make executive level presentations Ideal candidate will possess the ability to deal with growth, change and ambiguity, as well as, work effectively across multiple teams Strong analytical skills - can break down a complex problem into components and bring simplicity into complexity Strong organizational/project management skills - ambitious, self-starter with the ability to multi-task and effectively manage priorities and lead projects Must functions well with ambiguity, process oriented, attention to detail, polished interpersonal skills, strong verbal and written communication skills Strong spreadsheet competency with Excel required. Knowledge of MS Finance tools (e.g., MS Sales, MARS, SAP, Calypso) is a definite asset
