NEED: As a member of the Parsons Core Infrastructure & Architecture team in the GSS IT Department, the Senior Server Administrator will be responsible to provide support in a heterogeneous server (Dell, Netapp) environment performing installation, customization and maintenance of the IT server components. The Senior Administrator is a key technical resource in the design, architecture and deployment of new systems to keep the server environment stable and interruptions to a minimum in standalone and multi-tiered environments. Individual must work closely with the other IT teams to bring resolution to all issues and perform proactive duties such as installs, access/permissions issues and software/hardware upgrades. Candidates will be required to escalate to vendors and provide root cause analysis and incident reports and to provide timely resolution to break/fix issues. Other duties will include:
Evaluate and integrate new operating system versions, drivers and hardware
Tests software updates and patches
Monitors and tunes the system to achieve optimum performance levels in standalone and multi-tiered environments
Conducts system analysis, configuration management and develops improvements for system software performance, availability and reliability
Perform Incident resolution, Problem Determination and Root Cause Analysis in accordance with Service Level Agreements using trouble ticket software to track and respond to tasks
Designs, develops, recommends and implements new or revised system software, utilities and automated processes as necessary. Provides in-depth diagnosis for operating systems software/hardware failures and develops solutions
Ensures server data integrity by evaluating, implementing and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions
Prescribes system backup / disaster recovery procedures and directs recovery operations in the event of destruction of all or part of the operating system or other system components. Implements appropriate levels of system security
Provides technical expertise for system Transitions, Migrations and Consolidations
Provides technical assistance to IT support staff, including but not limited to, DBAs, Network Engineers, Application Developers, Middleware Engineers, other System Administrators, Project Managers, Change Managers and Business Development staff
Qualifications: REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or other Bachelor degree with equivalent server technology coursework
8 years of Systems Administrator experience
Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP-Enterprise Administrator)
Configuring, deploying, administering and optimizing a variety of IT Servers such Dell/Cisco Blade Chassis & Blades, PowerEdge Rack/Tower configurations, Dell PowerVault disk attached storage arrays (DASD)
Administering User Network id and ACL's administration in a Corporate Windows Active Directory Domain Environment
Demonstrable knowledge of virtualization system configurations using VMware Server, VMware ESX/ESXi, and Microsoft Hyper-V
Networking protocols including TCP/IP, WINS, DNS, DHCP and network devices such as routers, Ethernet switches, firewalls
Operating Systems Software - VMware ESX/ESXi Server, Windows NT , Windows 2000, Windows 2003, Window 2008, Windows 95, 98, XP and Vista , Windows 7, Redhat Linux, with special emphasis on Microsoft Products:
Products - Cluster Server, Remote Access Service, Internet Information Server, Server, SQL Server, Outlook, Office Professional, Terminal, Server, Visio, Scripting skills (batch files, KIXstart, vbScript, Windows instrumentation (WMI), ADSI).
Troubleshoot Server-related issues
Provide on-call Support
Capable of performing heavy lifting associated with server installs
Required skills relating to Data Security, Management and Backup include: Exposure to Backup methodologies and technologies, Disaster recovery techniques and planning; Knowledge of media handling and care; Disaster recovery techniques and planning; Data restoration and verification and Database backup methods and management.
Excellent written & verbal communication skills
