Senior Director, Digital Strategy & Development

The McGraw-Hill Companies (MHP) seeks an exceptional individual to formulate, communicate and execute digital strategy at the corporate level. The position will report to the SVP of Strategy and Planning at the McGraw-Hill Companies, within the Global Strategy Group. The position presents an opportunity for tremendous impact on company growth and transformation, exposure to senior executives at the firm, and career advancement within the Global Strategy Group or to line positions within businesses.

The successful candidate will have responsibility for:
Formulating and enhancing our corporate digital strategy
*
Articulating vision and goals
*
Comprehensively assessing the state of, and market demand for, digitization in each of our businesses
*
Recommending approach for prioritization of digital efforts and capital spend
*
Recommending and facilitating changes to infrastructure and capabilities required to execute against our digital goals
*
Recommending and facilitating changes to management structures and processes to align with digital strategy (e.g. to speed innovation)
Orchestrating communication of our digital intent to customers, investors and employees (by working with the HR, Communications and Investor Relations teams)

Identifying, designing and leading strategic initiatives supporting the corporate digital strategy, for example:

Identifying and setting digital metrics to measure and motivate digital progress
*
Designing agenda and leading Corporate Digital Working Group
*
Designing and establishing a digital innovation fund and/ or incubator to increase innovation
Evaluating key trends in digitization and technology and articulating appropriate response

Supporting segment and business unit digitization efforts, as necessary

Representing the firm at key digital/ venture capital conferences

Desired Qualifications:
* Bachelors Degree from a top tier undergraduate institution, preferably in computer science or applied math/ science or engineering
* MBA from a top tier business school
* At least 8 years cumulative work experience preferred
* At least 3 years experience at a top tier management consulting firm, with client experience in digital strategy preferred
* At least 3 years experience working in a leading "digital" company (i.e. technology, digital media or internet) preferred
* Experience working in a digital strategy role in a corporate environment a plus
* Experience in business transformation and change management a plus
* Experience in technology investment banking, venture capital or investing a plus
* Experience in education, business or financial information industries a plus
* Global experience and foreign language ability a plus

* Broad understanding of key trends in global technology and their application in a corporate setting
* Ability to write and present sophisticated executive and board level presentations
* Exceptional interpersonal skills and EQ, with ability to lead and work with a diverse range of individuals in a corporate setting
* Appropriate presence and polish to effectively work with senior leadership team and to represent MHP at external digital or venture capital conferences and events
* Strong influencing and listening skills. Ability to present a compelling vision and gain buy-in at all levels
* Strong command of financial analysis and metrics
