Seeking aggressive news reporter
The Daily News, based in Menlo Park, California, is seeking a news reporter with at least two years of experience at a daily newspaper who can aggressively cover several beats in one of the most competitive markets in the country. We cover two counties in the heart of the San Francisco Peninsula and Silicon Valley. The ideal reporter must have a strong competitive streak, a nose for local news, genuine curiosity and skepticism, and the speed and composure to quickly produce fair, accurate, comprehensive and clearly written stories under daily deadline pressure. A familiarity with the Bay Area is an advantage. Our reporters are responsible for covering several cities and everything that happens in them, from council meetings to schools to courts to crime, etc. Many of our stories are picked up by several of our sister Bay Area newspapers, including the San Jose Mercury. Due to budget constraints, we don't fly in candidates for job interviews.
