Seeking Afternoon News Producer
KCRW, a nationally recognized public radio station in Los Angeles, seeks a talented afternoon producer to enhance our daily news coverage and expand the station's reach on-air and online.
Responsibilities and Duties
The afternoon news producer will work with our local anchor to create a distinctive newscast that complements NPR's All Things Considered. ATC is the cornerstone of KCRW's afternoon programming and so qualified candidates will need strong writing and editing skills, proven news judgment, good time management and an ability to collaborate creatively with other news and talk producers. Daily duties include covering breaking news, producing and editing short interviews and commentaries, and finding interesting angles, sources and/or audio elements to enhance and advance stories our audience cares about. The producer will maintain a forward-planning calendar, voice pieces for ATC and Morning Edition newscasts, coordinate with other producers within the news department, and actively develop news features to use on-air and online.
