Summary Provides technical sales support, expertise and advice to customer's management, users and internal company staff regarding very complex products and services and systems integrations. Helps qualify sales opportunities, works on the resolution of technical issues that may arise during the sales engagement, helps clients define specifications and requirements, and provides technology presentations to both technical and management-level audiences. Essential Duties *Advises customers and internal sales staff about all company products and services. Provides in-depth advice for those services for which position is responsible (such as specialized voice or data applications) by giving technical guidance to others on prices, options, feature enhancements and availability. *Analyzes customer's needs and develops long-term strategy of how company products and services can competitively meet the customer's communication needs, based on knowledge of customer's current network, equipment and business. Recommends specialized services and applications to customer's technical staff and management, based on detailed knowledge of internal company network and all major voice and data network architectures. *Attends qualified sales and vendor calls. Provides technical guidance regarding the preparation of, review, and presentation of technical proposals for customers on how the customer's network and the company's products and services can be integrated. Includes the implementation process, application development and any modifications that are required. *Demonstrates full technical knowledge of customer's business and related communication needs by advising internal sales team and the customer's technical staff as appropriate on enhancements, modifications and/or options in voice and data communication integration. *Provides technical guidance regarding the preparation of, review, and presentation of large, complex voice and data network designs to internal sales team, customers and/or vendors to ensure complete plan is feasible, within cost, time, and environment constraints. Develops and provides technical responses and strategy for RFP's as a member of the sales account team. *Acts as a customer advocate as necessary for all post-sale implementation issues until resolved. Ensures technical content is accurate for all customer orders that are issued. Education and Experience * Experience: 7+ yrs * Education Level: Bachelor's Degree * Field Of Study: Engineering, technical or similar * A combination of education and experience is acceptable. Knowledge, Skills or Abilities * Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent technical training.
* 7 to 9 years experience in the telecommunication industry, including 5 to 6 years in customer support or Sales Engineering position within the company or comparable organization.
* Must be able to travel up to 50% of the time, or as required.
* Requires in-depth understanding of voice/data/internet applications and communications technology; and knowledge of network design/engineering.
* Requires strong understanding of company's network and technical terminology related to company products and services.
* Requires practical knowledge of communications equipment such as PBX's, routers, CSU/DSU's, Data Switches, etc.
* Must have experience with managing multiple projects/opportunities simultaneously.
* Must have a proactive communication style ensuring timely status of projects to account team and customer. Must also be able to listen and discern specfic customer requirements as they related to company products and services.
* Ability to focus ambiguous customer needs into specific, deliverable requirements. Ability to extract hidden or unrealized customer requirements and gain consensus on these requirements with the customer.
* Ability to graphically depict solutions in a compelling manner

* Computer business applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio and PowerPoint
* Security clearance may be required.
Work Environment Sits five to seven hours per day. Stands and or walks one to three hours per day. May bend, reach, stoop and crouch throughout the day. Should have the ability to hear, speak and see effectively to perform the necessary tasks of this position. Manual dexterity is occasionally required. The position may require frequent movement and activity relating to using keyboards, viewing data on computer displays, and communicating verbally and in writing to the needs of others. The employee-owner may occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Working Conditions: Work is performed in an office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions.
