Strong Internal Candidate JOB SUMMARY: At the direction of the Senior Director, D-H Risk Management Program and in conjunction with the President of D-H Health, D-H Claims Administrator, and assigned legal counsel, manage and intervene on potential and actual claims and lawsuits to minimize DHMC exposure to liability and loss. Serve as a resource, liaison and representative of DHMC Administration, including administrative representation at various court hearings and processes, mediations and related internal administrative meetings. Exercise delegated administrative responsibilities and consultation for Hospital and Clinic activities which involve potential or actual risk exposure. Assume responsibility for providing assistance, direction, consultation and problem solving for patient care issues with potential for medical-legal implications As part of the Risk Management program, act as an internal consultant to analyze loss sources and contribute to the development of systems, processes and practices to improve employment practices, patient safety and limit liability exposure. Work with senior leaders, clinicians, managers, and human resources staff to develop and implement improvements in systems and performance which reduce institutional risk. Enhance the capabilities of clinicians, managers, administrators and HR by providing them with resources to accomplish specific objectives, including educational safety programs, writing and/or reviewing policies and procedures, and implementing practice changes. Work demands complete discretion in handling confidential clinician, patient, employee and institutional information. MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Masters Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field with a minimum of 3 years of experience in insurance claims, risk management, customer relations, legal experience, or as a healthcare provider, or the equivalent combination of education and experience required. Demonstrated excellence in judgment, temperament, confidentiality, collaboration, education, written and verbal communication skills, facilitation, and crisis management are essential.
