The Research Analyst is a full-time exempt position in the Planning, Institutional Effectiveness and Research Department (PIER). The position is responsible for using standard statistical processes and research methodology to summarize survey and student data. The material, data files, and analyses prepared by the incumbent carry fiscal and policy implications. Reports and analyses are used to assist the President and President's Council in planning and decision making. The Research Analyst reports directly to the Assistant Director in PIER. The work schedule for this position is 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m - 5:00 p.m. When applying for this position, be prepared to answer the following questions: * Describe your experience in using technology (e.g., SPSS, MS Excel, MS Word, etc.) to analyze and report data and information. * Describe your experience in managing multiple projects concurrently. * Bachelor's degree (preferably in psychology, statistics, economics, or information processing) * At least one year of recent experience in an applied research/data management environment. * Experience with statistical analysis using standard statistical packages (SPSS, SAS), data mining and business intelligence software; experience using Microsoft Excel or comparable spreadsheets. * Experience using relational databases effectively (e.g., Datatel's Colleague). * Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, reason analytically, and work with people possessing differing levels of technical knowledge. * Knowledge of survey design and research methodology. * Effective verbal communication skills and proficiency in producing technical reports is highly desirable.
