The Latin America GEPS (Global Explorationa and Production Services) Regional Manager is responsible for sourcing all E&P data for the region, responding to client questions, assisting sales and consulting, and writing GEPS articles, Weekly Highlights, and Annual Synopses. The incumbent represents IHS in direct contact with government bodies throughout Latin America and the Caribbean region. The position reports directly to the Senior Director of the Americas Regional Teams and has supervisory responsibility for a team of 5 or 6 line staff plus two Regional Coordinators.


Additional consideration will be given to those who are familiar with IHS products and can speak/write Spanish or Portuguese.

The main duties of the position and the background required of a successful candidate are:


Primary tasks
* Compilation and update of GEPS report including the meeting of publishing deadlines.
* Feeding regular information to IHS products such as Daily Alert and International Oil Letter and quality control of what is included.
* Maintaining and improving the quality of the IRIS21 database and country and regional activity maps.
* Continually looking for new sources of historical and current data including data that will assist other departments of IHS such as Midstream, IHS CERA, IHS Herold, Global Insight Economics, and Consulting. Work closely with the Data Management Team of IIO (Information and Insight Operations) on acquiring historical data.
* Regular communication with in-country correspondents to ensure that the quality of information is provided in a timely manner and of acceptable standard. Identify, hire and train replacement correspondents when necessary and seek opportunities to establish Data Exchange Agreements (DEAs).
* Advise clients (internal and external) in all aspects of the energy industry in the region.
* Represent IHS either directly or in a supporting role in business transactions in the region.
* Coordination of data management projects of the regional team.
* Regular travel to attend conferences and other meetings.
* Responsible for organising that source data for the region is archived in a proper manner.
* Demonstrate IHS regional expertise through both written and oral presentations.
* Supervise a team of 5 or 6 line staff who providefield, contract and well informationa and who populate and maintain the IRIS21 database.
* Supervise two Regional Coordinators who are in charge of a small team covering another part of the region.
* Deputize for the Senior Director when absent from the office.

Secondary tasks
* Membership of local and regional societies and attendance at meetings. It is encouraged to become members on relevant committees.
* The writing of at least one article in an industry journal and presentation of a paper at a society meeting or conference, using IHS data for the region, is encouraged.
* Assist with information for other IHS products and projects when required.
* Feed any sales leads to the relevant Account Managers.
* Keep other arms of IHS informed of any business opportunities such as promotional work, non exclusive and exclusive projects.



Qualifications and Background:
* A Bachelors Degree or higher in a geo-technical discipline, e.g. Geology, Geophysics or Engineering.
* More than 10 years experience in the oil and gas industry.
* Knowledge and experience of exploration and production upstream to midstream activities and processes.
* IT skills including the use of databases and GIS systems, MS Office software.
* Ability to prioritise multiple objectives and work to deadlines.
* Good communication skills with the ability to make presentations and write reports.
* Team player who is able to demonstrate a high level of initiative.
