Summary:
The position is part of the Latin America Regional Team based in Houston which is a key team in IHS' Information and Insight Operations (IIO) organization.
The position will focus on the acquisition, collation, and dissemination of critical exploration and production information about the oil and gas industry in the Andean Region of northern Latin America. The data gathered are typically checked, quality controlled, compiled and sorted prior to entry into the world's largest single E&P database (IRIS 21). Aside from the database, the information is also reported in the Global Exploration and Production Service (GEPS) Reports. Additional material is also fed to other IHS databases, publications and international products. The main duties of the position and the background required of a successful candidate are as follows:
* Establish and maintain relationships with industry leaders and government agencies in Latin America * Scout for information and network with clients in the region; able to independently utilize web sites and industry publications for relevant information * Provide our customers with periodic updates on regional trends * Write GEPS reports * Supervise a team of 5-6 staff including a Well Analyst, Cartographer, Contract Analyst, and Field Researcher; prepare annual and mid-year performance evaluations and set goals and objectives for each team member * Oversee and coordinate data projects for the region, direct team members and set priorities on data projects and daily workload as needed * Cooperate and work with other departments within IHS, in particular IHS CERA, Sales and Marketing
The Regional Coordinator may also from time to time be required to substitute for the Regional Manager at short notice. This position involves some travel, primarily to industry functions and conferences. IHS is seeking a candidate who preferably has:
* A Bachelors Degree or higher in a geo-technical discipline, e.g. Geology, Geophysics or Petroleum Engineering * More than 10 years experience in the oil and gas industry * Knowledge and experience of upstream to midstream activities and processes * IT skills including the use of databases and GIS systems, MS Office software * Ability to prioritise multiple objectives and work to deadlines * Good communication skills with the ability to make presentations and write reports * Team player who is able to demonstrate a high level of initiative Additional consideration will be given to those who are familiar with IHS products and can speak/write Spanish and/or Portuguese.
