Description: Our client is in need of a contractor to come in for a specialized project. The selected individual will perform the following functions.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
. Perform analytical chemistry, microbiological and packaging testing on all raw materials, in-process, finished product, and environmental samples. Verification of out-of-specification results. Report the intent and action to accept, reject, or hold to appropriate Manager/Supervisor.
. Record data in notebook, microbiological database, or other prescribed forms according to GLP standards. Monitor micro trends using Access software and report results to Microbiologist. Input of data into the DIS system and initiation of any required exceptions report.
. Release of all raw materials. Assist in the microbiological releases of product from DC's.
. Microbiological monitoring of the plant environment. This includes the analysis of new procedures and the implementation of new instrumentation.
. Actively supports and participates in facility Total Quality effort, demonstrate Quality behavior, continuously strives to improve customer/supplier relationships and business processes.
. Inventory and ordering of laboratory supplies. Manage lab supply budget.
. Maintain lab equipment and work areas on a continuous basis. This includes all instrumentation troubleshooting and preventative maintenance, as well as ensuring equipment follows a calibration schedule. Maintain inventory of all glassware and chemicals. Maintain lab per OSHA safety regulations.
. Sampling of raw materials, in-process and packaging samples and the preparation of reagents and media when required.
. Employee shall follow Franklin Park Factory safety & environmental objectives & targets, follow the plan safety rules, report incidents & unsafe conditions immediately, maintain compliance with regulations, and refer to the Safety & Environmental Management System(s) on all related procedures and programs.
. Perform special projects as required by Manager. Assist production in optimizing manufacturing processes
Requirements: B.S. Degree in microbiology, chemistry, food science or related science or equivalent experience General knowledge of basic microbiological and chemistry lab procedures, PPE, and Safety Practices Good communication and computer skills ( i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook); show initiative in accepting responsibility and able to function with minimal supervision; some physical climbing is required
