Professional-RAN Engineer
Duties: Perform capacity planning and traffic engineering for global system for mobile communication (GSM) and universal mobile telecommunications system (UMTS); perform wireless traffic engineering, including capacity dimensioning and traffic forecasting for GSM and UMTS using MapInfo, RANFT and Atoll tools; apply propagation theory, cellular theory, radio frequency (RF) engineering tools and antenna theory to choose tower antenna placement, height, site configuration and power to maximize coverage, capacity and network performance; review search rings and RF design sheets to ensure compliance with network and financial objectives; perform demand validation and analysis of GSM radios and cabinets; perform vendor-by-vendor analysis to create standardized market demand forecasting process; perform monthly radio tracking reports and cell dimensioning reports to gather scan drive data, propagation plots and performance key performance indicators (KPIs) and forecast demands; prepare yearly traffic forecasts down to a site level to ensure site back haul capacity orders and deployment meet the capacity needs; plan, order and coordinate deployment of network element installations to sites to match capacity needs; oversee translation engineering function, capital and facility expense budgets.
Qualifications: Requirements: Bachelor's or foreign equivalent degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering or Telecommunications followed by five years of progressive experience in performing capacity dimensioning and traffic forecasting for global system for mobile communication (GSM) using MapInfo, with three years therein to include performing capacity dimensioning and traffic forecasting for universal mobile telecommunications system (UMTS) using RANFT and Atoll.
