If this sounds like your kind of place, it probably is.The role: Privacy Counsel As Privacy Counsel at Google, youâ??ll have a front row seat in the development of the law in this field and a truly unique opportunity to assist in the creation of products, business practices and user facing tools that will define the future of online privacy on a global scale. You'll support many diverse legal and business teams in this role, advocating for a critical central function. Amongst other things, you should expect to be the specialist within the legal team, supporting our product and commercial lawyers on the design of our products and the structure of our deals; the consultant to our specialist privacy engineering teams on special projects, and the advisor to our public policy and government relations teams throughout their external engagements.Responsibilities: * Advise on compliance across all aspects of global privacy law and regulation, including data protection, data retention, data security and data breach rules. * Provide all specialist legal advice and subject matter resources required to support all functions within Googleâ??s global legal team. * Provide specialist consultation and support to other key functions (Privacy Engineering, Public Policy, Corporate Communications). * Assist in the continued development and improvement of all aspects Googleâ??s privacy compliance programme (data transfers, processing, privacy policies, staff training, etc.).Requirements: * JD degree with excellent academic record; California Bar membership. * At least 3 years of in-depth, related experience. * Solid understanding of Internet architecture and operation. * Willingness to travel. * Demonstrated ability to complete several simultaneous projects on deadline. * Exceptional interpersonal skills and a commitment to professionalism and collegiality. * Flexibility and willingness to work on a broad range of legal matters.Apply now
