1. Operate and maintain camera and plate-making equipment to prepare images of newspaper pages for press; bend, organize and count plates; double check for quality and accuracy and allocate proper quantity to appropriate press. Prepare logs or sign-out sheets showing page numbers, etc. of plates processed.
2. Prepare photographic images by operating camera and film processing equipment; load film, chemicals and perform routine maintenance on all imaging equipment.
3. Train on color imaging equipment to develop color techniques such as scanner operation, stripping, color proofing, preparing color plates, etc.
4. Perform quality control duties by checking plates and images for accuracy and clarity; recognize and follow through on operational problems (poor chemistry, malfunctioning equipment) as appropriate and/or notify supervisor.
5. Perform a variety of additional technical and production duties as required to support the goals of the imaging department in producing a high quality, on-time newspaper.
