Music Program Coordinator- Camp Harbor View
Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston operates Camp Harbor View, located on Long Island in Boston Harbor. The Camp was created in 2007 by the Camp Harbor View Foundation to provide a fun and safe environment where youth could challenge themselves, make new friends and experience a world beyond their neighborhoods, where violence has been on the rise. Programming focuses on four areas: sports & fitness, the arts, leadership development and environmental education. In 2010, the day camp hosted approximately 800 boys and girls, ages 11 to 14, from across Boston. Each group of campers attended the camp for one four-week session.
Summary of Position:
Major responsibility is to assist in overseeing the planning, implementation and ongoing evaluation of quality and developmentally appropriate programs, activities, services, and special events in the camp's arts program areas for youth ages 11-14.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist the Art Director in running individual programs, and activities and developing program partners in the Arts Program area. Individual responsibilities include, but not limited to, assisting in the oversight of music programming including, but not limited to, instrumental instruction, writing music/lyrics, singing, recording, and performing.
Assist Art Director in developing and implementing collaborative programs and events with staff from other focus areas. Participate in camp wide programming as appropriate.
Supervise and discipline of members participating in programs and services within the program area as well as throughout the camp as deemed appropriate.
Assist the Art Director in ordering and inventory of music supplies, cleaning the music area and maintaining any equipment associated with the Music program
Assist in the planning and implementing of daily music activities, run music activities as appropriate
Participate in individual and group supervision sessions; participate in professional development opportunities as appropriate.
Other related duties as specified by the Art Director, Executive Director or Director of Operations.
