Media Relations Communications Manager
We are currently seeking a Media Relations Communications Manager at our Community Support Office located in McLean, Va. The main focus of the position will be to lead the strategy and execution of company-wide media relations and communications efforts that protect and enhance the company's brand reputation, drive census and build a strong company culture.
Primary Responsibilities include:
Serving as Sunrise's spokesperson, working with the media to identify stories/angles, manage inquiries, build relationships and monitor news coverage
Protecting the company's reputation through strategic and consistent crisis communications support to mitigate impact on our business, including on-call support outside of normal business hours
Drafting and editing external and internal announcements, blog articles, talking points, presentations, letters and press releases
Managing external public relations agencies, setting expectations and ensuring effective and timely execution of priorities
Providing media training and coaching to Sunrise leaders prior to interviews
Measuring the impact of communications activities; Regularly monitoring results and feedback to effectively enact changes to team's programs
Creating and managing regular, recurring internal communications initiatives to team member audiences that provide news from around the organization
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree, and experience in healthcare or hospitality industry preferred
At least 5 years of media relations and/or communications experience
Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
Strong initiative and ability to handle multiple projects/roles in an evolving environment both individually and within a team
Resilient, with the ability to work to deadlines and maintain high levels of professionalism while managing multiple demands
Willingness to do what it takes to complete projects with a dedication to quality and innovative thinking
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to respond to crisis and media-related situations quickly, efficiently and effectively
Ability to work collaboratively with Corporate Marketing & Communications team members to contribute to all team initiatives
