We are currently seeking a Manager, Programming. This role is responsible for managing all aspects of regional network programming. Duties include creating monthly program schedules; distributing local program information sheets to network offices and the Houston Technical Operations Center; selecting and coordinating professional events; coordinating commitments; providing switching information for territorial restrictions; and generating regional barter and cash/barter contract requests. This position is based in San Diego, CA.
Responsibilities:
Creates and maintains monthly program schedules.
Provides programming information to all departments in a regional network office, including Advertising Sales, Affiliate Sales, Production, Promotions, and Marketing, HTOC and TV listing services.
Maintains historical programming information.
Assists the General Manager with the annual budgeting process.
Provides direction to Houston Technical Operations Center (HTOC) On-Air Presentation and Day-of-Air Presentation departments for programming contingency instructions and program origination sheets.
Creates and distributes all local program information sheets to network offices and HTOC.
Responds to acquisition requests for and solicits outside supplier programming.
Acts as a liaison between the franchise and the Network
Coordinates the game selection process for both broadcast and cable in cases where the RSN owns broadcast rights for the team as well as cable rights.
Selects events and coordinates all commitments, including major events, coaches' shows and specials.
Coordinates day and time changes for all products with all parties.
Provides switching information for professional territorial restrictions to data control.
Provides scheduling information to TV listings, program suppliers, colleges, professional teams, local offices, HOC and national sales offices.
Ensures information for promotions/ marketing is shared; formats/coordinates team commercial inventory.
Generates and facilitates all regional barter and cash/barter contract request paperwork; provides all cash/barter billing to accounts receivable.
Reviews monthly aging statements to ensure that all program suppliers are current. Works with delinquent program suppliers to get caught up on billings before shows are pulled.
Follows up on billing and payment processing for programming and underwritten events.
Ensures that the network meets FCC closed captioning requirements.
Creates commercial formats for network produced programming.
Qualifications
Requirements:
This position requires a Bachelor degree or equivalent experience.
A minimum of 5-7 years experience in sports programming is necessary.
Previous experience in broadcast or cable television is also required.
Good oral and written communication skills are needed.
Superior organizational and project management skills are needed.
Must have strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel and Databases.
Strong knowledge of professional and collegiate sports is needed.
The ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment is essential.
