INT 76 10 Fraud Management/Revenue Assurance Intern
Title: INT 76 10 Fraud Management/Revenue Assurance Intern Location: CA-Los Angeles DIRECTV's Fraud Management department prevents, detects and investigates fraud. Fraud Management is tasked with improving DIRECTV's customer base by detecting potential fictitious and risky customers. Fictitious and risky customers cause economic losses and customer churn to DIRECTV. The department works with Finance, Legal, Customer Service and outside agencies to protect DIRECTV's quality customer, employees and partners. We are seeking an intern to join our dynamic Fraud Management Department to provide with immediate and direct impact to company financials' as fraud is detected. The intern will research and investigate fraudulent activity, develop facts and obtain information from multiple resources, analyze data, draw conclusions and clearly summarize complex results for investigators. With less complex cases, the intern will be responsible for applying preliminary research to further investigate and resolve fraudulent issues including preliminary discussions with outside contracts/targets. The intern may present materials, communicate and coordinate cross-department fraud issues with departments such as Customer Service, Home Services, Access Card Operations, and Finance. The three major objectives to be accomplished by the college intern in this position are:
A. Knowledge of all fraud schemes and appropriate DIRECT counter measures. B. Understanding of DIRECTV dealer network and fraud related activities. C. Knowledge of DIRECTV systems used to detect and treat fraud.
This student's declared major or educational background should be Accounting, Finance, Business, Criminology or Pre-Law students entering their Junior or Senior year or graduate students entering their first or second year in the fall of 2010 with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Must have motivation to develop techniques based on objectives, along with excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment and take direction from multiple team members. Must have analytical skills in order to perform investigative work and determine like kind evidence from multiple disparate sources. Must have the ability to spot potential inefficiencies and assist in development of process enhancement solutions. Must have strong PC skills including Microsoft Windows and Office and Internet directories. This is a full-time, paid internship and the length of the assignment is 12 weeks. The position is located in El Segundo, California near LAX. Unfortunately, we are not able to offer housing or relocation services.
