Mpowerment Coordinator Organization: STOP AIDS Project is a nonprofit, multicultural, collaborative, community-based organization that seeks to reduce HIV transmission among gay, bisexual and transgender men in San Francisco and lessen the adverse effects of the HIV epidemic on the community by providing outreach, free discussion groups, events, referral services, condoms and social marketing campaigns. Reports To: Program Director Position Summary: This network coordinator will work primarily with HIV negative gay, bi and transgender men ages 30-45 who are at high risk for HIV transmission. The coordinator will reach these men through various strategies and venues in San Francisco including bars, sex clubs, gyms, and online. The coordinator will work with these men individually and with the larger social and sexual networks in which they belong. This is a regular, full-time, exempt position, requiring consistent evening and some weekend work. Essential Functions: - Identify and recruit Key Opinion Leaders in the 30-45 year old MSM San Francisco community who will participate in and lead events. - Work with Key Opinion Leaders to design and implement HIV prevention interventions targeting gay, bisexual and transgender men who are identified as high risk men in their 30s and 40s. This may include outreach, community building, social marketing, workshops, street fairs and other events. - Work with the Volunteer Manager to recruit, train and supervise volunteers, including the development of outreach and community building teams. - Facilitate the work of Key Opinion Leaders to identify HIV prevention-related concerns and interests for gay, bisexual and transgender men in their 30s and 40s. - Guide the development and production of media for men who are part of this network working with the Key Opinion Leaders and Communications Department. - Develop program collaborations with agencies targeting similar populations. - Represent the agency at HIV prevention forums and conferences, and participate in efforts to establish possible future collaborations. - Promote STOP AIDS programs, meetings, forums and fund raising events. - Build relationships with neighborhood merchants including bars, retail stores and commercial sex venues who will support the program. - Produce accurate and timely reports to fulfill contract obligations. - Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: - Proven experience in community organizing. - Familiarity with the issues affecting gay, bisexual and transgender men in San Francisco. - Bachelor's degree and/or 2 years public health experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. - Dedicated to working in and helping build a culture of anti-racism in the workplace and community. - Demonstrated ability to initiate and complete multiple tasks on time. - Self-directed with an ability to work in coordination with multiple staff and volunteers on complex projects. - Experience of at least 1 year working with gay, bisexual, and transgender men. - Experience with group facilitation. - Experience working with volunteers. - Ability to take leadership and receive direction. - Excellent oral, written, communication and computer skills. - Bi-lingual Spanish speaker preferred.
