Our Networks Engineering & Operations (NE&O) is seeking an expert Front-End Software Engineer to join our software development group. This position will be responsible for designing, developing and improving media-based systems and sites including those that support our Sports, Broadcasting, and others.
The ideal candidate will have a solid engineering or computer science background with interests in front end development and user experience. In particular, this position will be creating rich client user experiences on core browser and HTML components of media workflow and production systems. Candidates should be able to provide technical expertise and logically thought-out solutions to complex web-based applications.
This individual must be a self-starter and task oriented, as they will be working closely with a number of clients and production groups. This opportunity requires development of best practices through experience and research. Other duties and projects as assigned
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's Degree, Engineering, Computer Science or related fields
Desired Skills & Experience
Qualified candidates will have the following technical skillsets:
2-4 years front-end development (HTML/CSS/JS/JQUERY/AJAX)
Demonstrated abilities in building elegant front-end applications across a number of technologies: especially and PHP.
Web services and concepts (REST, XML, JSON)
Design proficiency with Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.
Good programming skills, including ability to write reusable, maintainable code and good software documentation
Strong communication skills and the ability to articulate ideas and problem-solving approaches
Experience in tiered application design, problem isolation, and performance monitoring.
Additionally, preferential consideration will be given to candidates with the following skillsets:
Streaming video, media, or related background in digital entertainment
HTML5
Mobile Development
Some familiarity with server-programming frameworks and languages (C/C++, Perl, PHP, Python)
Can think creatively and unconventionally in approaching problems, with past examples of how this was done
