Reporting to the Studio Operations Manager, the Director is responsible for directing, overseeing and ensuring the quality of the on-air presentation of programs. Works closely with producers and directors to ensure shows meet high quality and creative standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Direct and ensure high-quality, creative on-air presentation of nightly news shows, live or taped studio shows, and/or remote events Lead the technical crew through all live programming and pre-production Meet daily with show producers to review formats and the presentation of the program content for air Work with producers and directors to develop and/or enhance show formats and contribute creative techniques to enhance the broadcast Review and lead the graphic look of the show Oversee and direct lighting and jib camera operations and block camera shots Oversee and direct studio staff in the implementation of studio procedures and policies to maximize studio enhancements Keep knowledge and skills current regarding broadcast technologies and techniques and incorporate them into studio productions Set and maintain a positive and "can-do" attitude/tone amongst the crew; keep crew focused on airing the best show possible Identify and make recommendations on new production technologies Participate in the improvement and/or enhancement of show productions Multi task as Director/ TD when needed and for news shows Other related tasks and projects as needed and/or assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
Ten plus (10+) years of experience directing live TV sports productions Experience leading studio productions and overseeing lighting and jib camera operations Must have strong leadership skills and a proven ability to partner and collaborate with producers to enhance the creativity and overall production value of programs Adept at managing program and content changes on the fly Solid knowledge of all aspects of high definition studio production including cameras, Duet Hyper-X, EVS and server clip playback Must have solid switching experience including switching multi-camera, HD studio programs and working with multi venue studios requiring multiple monitor feeds Experience on SONY MVS8000 HD switcher, DME and EVS a plus Experience with directing remote productions a plus Solid track record of performing well in a fast-paced, growing and changing environment Good attention to detail and solid communication and interpersonal skills Experience enforcing and implementing studio procedures and policies Strong knowledge of professional sports including New England sports (a plus) Strong computer skills and working knowledge of all technical studio production roles Must be flexible and able to work nights, weekends and holidays as needed
