Dean, Faculty Development- Music
Reporting to the Vice President for Curriculum and Program Innovation Academic Affairs, the Dean of Faculty Development will provide leadership in contemporary music education through ongoing development of world class faculty and academic leadership, facilitating academic collaborations and curricular innovations across the college, and to enrich the student experience through exposure to leading musicians, scholars and industry experts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide vision and strategic planning for faculty development consistent with the vision and mission of the college and in collaboration with the Provost, Vice President for Curriculum and Program Innovation and the academic Deans.
- Develop and oversee programs that create innovative learning opportunities for faculty to engage in research, experimentation, and development in their teaching, creativity and artistry, and professional lives in the music and educational industries. This includes learning communities, summer immersion programs, fellowships, grants, and coaching.
- Create and oversee academic leadership development program for academic Deans and Chairs consistent with the vision of the Provost and in ways that complement and support the work of the Vice President in Human Resources, Diversity and Inclusion.
- Collaborate with the Vice President for Curriculum and Program Innovation in implementation of curriculum review, specifically the ongoing creation of faculty development programs that support the review recommendations.
- Collaborate with the Vice President for Global Initiatives in the creation of faculty development programming for Berklee-Valencia campus and other international programs. Oversee Berklee's increased visibility of faculty development and engagement of teaching/learning issues on an international scale. This includes the development of the International Faculty Development program in accordance with college's strategic direction.
- Develop and oversee structures that facilitate interdepartmental academic collaborations, allowing academic departments to partner in curricular, developmental and administrative ways that enrich the student experience. This includes leadership in emerging curricular programs, innovations in teaching methods, and integration of technology into core curriculum.
- Facilitate interdepartmental and interdivisional curricular innovations and provide resources for curriculum development to enrich the student experience. This includes leadership and oversight of visiting artist programs that are interdisciplinary, interdivisional, and strengthen curricular focus on development of the whole student.
- Increase exposure of students to music industry professionals, facilitates visiting artists programs and partnerships that are interdivisional, interdisciplinary, and sustainable. This includes oversight of Ambassador of Artistry programs.
- Develop and oversee strategic programs that foster collaborative work across the College in support of the College's strategic plan.
