Corporate Strategy & Development Associate
This is mainly a project-based role, with the individual managing and contributing to multiple projects at one time, and encompasses a broad range of activities such as research, data collection, analysis, strategy formulation and recommendation, evaluation of business opportunities, creation of presentations and other written materials, and project management. This Corporate Strategy Associate will have wide-reaching visibility and exposure throughout all of Time Inc. (including magazines, all things digital and non-magazine operations). The position reports to the VP, Corporate Strategy and Development.
Responsibilities can include projects in the following areas:
Strategic reviews (print and digital) for individual business units and Time Inc. as a whole
Researching, analyzing, and presenting to senior management: - Potential new business categories for Time Inc. - New business opportunities proposed by external parties - Strategic and operational implications of potential acquisitions or investments - Overviews of competitors and of geographic regions - Industry trends
Identifying and evaluating new business opportunities for specific brands, including business plan creation/review, partnership assessment, competitive landscape analysis, etc. Aiding brands in identifying, prioritizing, researching, modeling and assessing acquisition prospects Cross-divisional project management Senior management support includes a variety of staff work for Time Inc.'s CEO, CFO, and Executive VPs: - Preparation for senior management meetings (e.g., strategy off-sites, topic-specific management summits) - Presentation creation for internal (Time Inc., Time Warner Inc.) and external delivery - Financial and operating data gathering and analysis - Financial and strategic work for Time Warner The person: - Excellent analytical skills, both quantitative and qualitative, and ability to interpret financial data for presentation purposes - Communication skills, including ability to present effectively in meetings and to articulate business and strategic issues - Strong interpersonal skills including ability to work in teams and to interact with internal and external senior level management - Ability to work independently, be resourceful and take ownership of projects - Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and set priorities under tight timeframes in an unstructured environment - Displays professional maturity and initiative
