Job Description: Communications Specialist (Senior) This role supports the Comms Mgr with all facets of communications, from consumer PR for flagship networks (Discovery Channel, Discovery Kids, Discovery Home & Health) to corporate and internal communications, possible CSR and social media. It involves researching program information, drafting press materials, brainstorming press stories, assistance in organizing press events, trips and reports to facilitate efficient and effective coordination. 1. Perform day-to-day public relations/news dissemination functions, including drafting news releases, coordinating and fulfilling media inquiries, gathering information and coordinating special event media coverage. 2. Staff and fulfill media interviews (print, radio, television and online), including specialized and television industry media. 3. Maintain and update mailing lists for Discovery's entire portfolio in the country. 4. Prepare briefing materials for executives. 5. Organize and execute press conference and screening events. 6. Coordinate development of press kits. 7. Track press coverage, clipping monitoring system and prepare periodic reports with support from Trainee. 8. Assist Communications manager in Corporate affairs when needed. 9. Liaise with the company's Content department with headquarters in Miami to align Communications priorities for the brands. 10. Engage in or drive discussions related to company's business priorities on blogs and social networks.
