AT&T Principal-Technical Architect - Ops Architect- Atlanta, GA

Responsible for translating business needs into technical solutions, and defining solutions to problems through reasoned application of information technology. Designs, develops, documents and analyzes overall architecture of systems, including hardware and software. Determines integrated hardware and software architecture solutions that meet performance, usability, scalability, reliability, and security needs. Coordinates design and integration of total system including subsystems. Researches and recommends technology to improve the current systems.

Nature of Contribution - Expert level technical professional. Technical authority within organization. Contributes through own development of advanced technologies or concepts with global reach or industry application. Has direct impact on creation of technical products/services and serves as a role model and a mentor.

Knowledge - Has extensive specialized technical expertise and applies expert knowledge and broad understanding of multiple disciplines. Integrates expert knowledge of technical principles and methods of multiple disciplines with knowledge of products/ services and internal operations. Advisor on AT&T technologies, systems and/or procedures.

Analysis and Problem Solving - Solves complex, critical problems related to significant and unique issues. Uses extensive research and interpretative thinking. Utilizes innovative methods in developing solutions and works on abstract problems requiring evaluation of intangible variables.

OPERATIONS ARCHITECT
JOB DESCRIPTION:
AT&T Managed Hosting Operations is seeking qualified individuals who possess a combination of technical acumen and a passion for customer service. We are building a team whose focus will be to provide technical leadership for dynamic, complex customers. Working alongside the Solution Center, this role will play a part in finalizing the design during presales. In addition, the associate will use their overall technical end-to-end understanding of the design during implementation in order to address any customer questions or technical hurdles. Using the trust gained during this timeframe, the associate will also provide continuity of customer rapport acting as an overall technical architect after go live as part of the operations team.

Candidates should be a top expert in one area of technology and should be conversant in multiple areas of technology. They should be able to assimilate and understand new technology at a moment's notice. They must be able to communicate complex technical issues in a manner that is easy to understand and appropriate to the level of the audience. The candidate should possess large customer account management skills and understand the business, technical, and financial landscape of the customer's solution.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Working with the Solution Center and customer during final stages of presales to confirm technical feasibility of the proposed solution
  • Partnering with the project implementation manager during the implementation phase to provide overall technical leadership throughout the deployment. Focus should be on:
  • Addressing customer technical concerns
  • Providing technical oversight and guidance to delivery teams to ensure components fit into the overall technical architecture
  • Establishing customer rapport and trust through technical accountability.
  • Maintain overall client platform stability, security, and supportability
  • Develop solutions to complex issues, including those, which require extensive research, analysis, critical thinking, collaboration, and precision in the execution in order to resolve
  • Develop, track, and report service remediation plans to AT&T management and to the customer
  • Developing and maintaining technical documentation related to the client account (SMOPs/MOPs, GeoLink, customer-specific knowledge base, etc)
  • Overall customer relationship management
  • Engineer and execute detailed change documentation.
  • Facilitate post-outage reviews (POR), manage Service Incident Reporting (SIR), develop and deliver Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to AT&T management and to the customer
  • Providing technical mentoring to peers and partner organizations
  • Overall customer relationship management
This position can be located in Alpharetta, GA; Annapolis, MD; Durham, NC; Dallas, TX; or Middletown, NJ. May consider qualified candidates who reside and will remain in other locations

Qualifications:
SKILLS REQUIRED:
  • The ideal candidate will be an expert in one area of the following technologies and be conversant in multiple areas.
  • Microsoft Windows Server Operating Systems including Microsoft Active Directory
  • Microsoft SQL server including Microsoft SQL Clustering
  • VMWare Virtualization
  • UNIX Operating System such as Linux, Solaris, HP-UX, and IBM AIX.
  • Fundamental understanding of SAN & NAS storage technologies.
  • Layer 2 and Layer 3 Network architecture with emphasis on server load balancing and switching.
  • Strong background in TCP/IP protocol suite including HTTP, SSL, DNS, SMTP, and SNMP.
  • System and network security concepts and appliances such as firewalls, intrusion detection, and VPN tunneling.

Required Qualifications -
  • 8-10 years related technical architect experience
  • Proficient in network and system architecture (subsystems, interfaces, hw/sw dependencies).
  • Proficient in message and conference systems and networks (multiple media, notification, presence, unified communications, video).
  • Knowledge in Network Management, Tools and Protocols (Configuration, IP network Address Management, Perf, Mgmt).
  • Understands Virtualization, Storage and Content Delivery Networks (Cloud, CDM, Grid, SAN).
  • Proficient in specifying and evaluating architecture requirements for RFXs.
Desired Qualifications -
  • AS/BS degree in Engineering, Information Systems or related technical field
  • Enterprise wide deployment planning and support for mission critical applications for major releases, both business and infrastructure related
  • Develops technical documentation on applications and systems
  • Ability to work with technical and business-oriented teams
  • Proficient in engineering cost estimates and economic analyses and models
  • Knowledge of wireless technologies standards and protocols (3GPP, Wi-Fi, WiMax, antennas, amplifiers, base stations, propagation, interference, spectrum)
  • Proficient in voice, video, and app technologies/protocols (circuit, VoIP, SIP, IMS, AIN, Camel, etc.)
