Sr. Real Estate Consultants in the Global Investment Management group are responsible for leading the execution and delivery of Real Estate consulting materials and advice to institutional clients, specifically pension funds, plan sponsors, endowments, and foundations. They also participate in marketing activities intended to develop new consulting relationships and the evaluation of investment management capabilities.
* Demonstrate ownership and initiative of client work * Design, coordinate, prepare and deliver Real Estate consulting assignments to clients * Manage complex client work and projects without supervision. This includes making presentations to and dealing directly with clients without the assistance/presence of a more senior team member * Create and deliver real estate education and market update presentations * Write quarterly sector commentary and white papers on current investment topics
* Contribute to the success of the team's investment manager research * Assist in the specification, evaluation, selection, and on-going improvement of the firm's real estate manager research analysis * Professionally and respectively represent the firm to the real estate investment universe by establishing, coordinating and maintaining investment manager relationships within a defined universe of managers/products * Author client and consultant communications regarding real estate investment manager developments
* Provide team leadership and mentoring * Apply good judgment and appropriate follow-through with investment managers, trustees and clients * Efficiently manage internal resources to allow for effective handling of multiple projects for multiple clients/consultants simultaneously * Coach/mentor junior professionals and maintain constructive relationships with others in the firm * Support the firm's activities in general. Provide proactive and creative support to firm leadership and clients
* Represent the firm in building new client relationships and winning new firm real estate business * Participate in and contribute to the success of real estate's marketing activities * Participate in the preparation and delivery of RFP responses and new business presentations * Expert knowledge of the commercial real estate asset class, including real estate finance and investment theory/practice and the ability to apply this knowledge to client work * Self-directed, team player who can work well with a variety of individuals * Minimum of ten years experience evaluating real estate markets, investment managers and/or securities * A solid foundation of real estate finance and investment theory and practice, including performance measurement and attribution analysis * Excellent analytical and decision-making skills * Excellent oral, written, and presentation communication skills * Excellent planning, organization and time management skills * A Masters or CFA preferred * Experience with pension funds, plan sponsors, endowments, and foundations desired * Ability to work independently on a variety of projects, receive instructions from a number of people and meet multiple project deadlines * A proactive research oriented approach to the asset class desired All positions require an applicant who has accepted an offer to undergo a background check.
