The Global Business Technology Strategy (GBTS) team combines custom technology solutions with creativity to produce robust applications that enhance all aspects of the guest experience. From one of the most sophisticated hotel reservation systems in the world to Disney Cruise Line shipboard systems, Disney Vacation Club member services, FastPass ticketing, PhotoPass, and even inventory applications to ensure we have the right number of Cast costumes.

The Application Developer Specialist will be responsible for developing detailed deployment plans and facilitating periodic releases. They will be responsible for assisting in an overall release with milestones showing key dependencies between projects in the release, key phase transitions for various components, key release activities, etc. They will have the opportunity to work with Technical Project Managers, delivery managers, and technical support managers to ensure project alignment with overall release and ensure risks/issues are managed on an ongoing basis. This role will provide a unique opportunity to work with front line cast members, different levels of management, other IT Partners, and vendors to resolve system issues, to assist in providing World Class Guest Service. You will have opportunities to provide guidance to our business client teams regarding software and hardware solutions available in the marketplace.
We have multiple Application Developer roles across several IT teams at all skill levels.
• Proven strong background in full software development lifecycle. • Possess strong understanding of cycles for Agile and Waterfall methodologies • Exp with Java, J2EE application development, PL/SQL, UNIX, Linux • AJAX, JBOSS or Websphere, REST, Agile (Web-Applications), Spring, MVS • Detail oriented and organized • Proven problem solving, organizational, and analytical skills • Proven experience working on large and/or multiple programs
• Working knowledge of Walt Disney Parks & Resorts Information Technology organization, outsourcing agreements, and change management policies • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills and consensus building skills • Working knowledge of Windows XP, Software Distribution, Active Directory, and Systems Management Server (SMS) • Familiar with Automation and Warehouse Control Systems • Working knowledge of Retek or Oracle Retail applications • Demonstrated ability to share creative and new ideas • Demonstrated ability as a team player with strong partnering, coaching and mentoring skills • Demonstrated strong networking skills Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
