The Office of Transformation Management is responsible for three primary areas: district-wide strategic planning, performance management, and cross-functional strategic initiatives. As part of this work, the Office of Transformation Management operates a project management office (PMO) that manages large-scale, cross-functional strategic initiatives that advance the top priorities of the school district.
The analyst is responsible for ensuring successful execution of cross-functional initiatives within DCPS. He or she will work with stakeholders to successfully carry out initiatives, by creating and using initiative plans, measuring progress toward milestones, and generally working to ensure that DCPS's strategic goals are achieved. The first two projects sitting in the PMO are the district's Race to the Top initiative, and the development and launch of an online data and professional development platform for teachers.
In addition to direct project management responsibility, the analyst will help create, execute, and continuously improve the school district's approach to effective project management. This will include capacity-building across DCPS through the development of systems and sharing of best practices for effective project management.
The Project Management Analyst reports to the Director of Strategic Reform cational Requirements

Bachelor's degreeQualifications

. Bachelor's degree and 2-4 years work experience required
. Master's degree involving quantitative analysis or in education preferred
. Work experience in project management, from the public, non-profit, or for-profit sectors
. Previous exposure to or experience in the education sector a plus

. Supports Director in the execution of cross-functional initiatives, including management of Race to the Top federal grant and the Teacher Data and Professional Development Platform;
. Synthesizes data, develops recommendations for identified problem areas, proposes short-and long-term system actions to implement, and implements plans under Director's supervision;
. Provides clear, accurate project management analysis and reports to Director to enable the management team to make informed decisions;
. Evaluates the likelihood and consequences of non-compliance and/or deficiencies in DCPS procedures and plans;
. Compiles relevant information to help develop and improve effective project management practices in DCPS, including providing fact-based recommendations based on analysis of project management efforts;
. Assists Director in communicating with the stakeholders relevant to the PMO's projects;
. Supports DCPS cross-functional teams in collaborating effectively (e.g., by setting objectives, creating agendas, and developing materials for weekly meetings);
. Supports the Director in establishing processes and tools to track and measure performance of projects and works with cross-functional teams to implement these tools.
. Communicates and coordinates with outside vendors as well as the Office of the State Superintendent of Education;
. Provides superb customer service and promote a culture of good service within the PMO and DCPS;
. Supports and carries out the Chancellor's mission to transform DC Public Schools and close the achievement gap;
. Performs other related duties as assigned.
