Position Summary:
The level III Unix Systems Administrator is responsible for low to high-end server administration in a large-scale, multi-site production environment. In this position you will be responsible for systems management, support and maintenance of a variety of Unix Operating systems, including, Irix, Freebsd, Solaris, and Linux, as well as applications such as, Apache, Bind, Sendmail and various 3rd party applications. Individual will participate in planning, monitoring, and evaluating the performance of server systems and make recommendations for improvements/upgrades. As a level III SA you will be responsible for providing escalation support for unresolved client issues as well as testing, and implementing plans and procedures to protect Unix servers including disaster recovery. Insuring security measure related to Unix servers, including application servers, virus protection and protection from malicious attacks. Candidate will work closely with other members of the technology staff, including other systems administrators, network engineers, quality assurance, customer operations and software engineers. Individual will need to be able to manage projects within the systems administration scope of responsibilities.
* General Unix Server system management & administration tasks.
* Performance tuning and analysis
* Fault finding
* Data security configuration
* Cluster administration
* Planning and testing software and hardware upgrades, including OS builds
* Trains Level I/II System Administrators
* Works on special projects for supporting new software and products.
* Coordinates technical tasks to be completed with other groups.
* May be asked to perform on-call duties when required.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements

* A strong familiarity with networking technologies, including TCP/IP, DNS, SNMP, SSH, SMTP, LDAP, etc
* Advanced knowledge of storage and storage networking technologies, including NFS, SAN, and NAS
* Advanced knowledge of Server hardware and raid configurations.
* Knowledge of MySQL / Postgres.
* Advanced knowledge of Sendmail.
* Ability to program in Perl or Unix Shell.
* Experience with administration in a heterogeneous Unix/Windows/Linux environment.
* Knowledge of the following scripting / programming languages. C, Perl, PHP, Shell Scripting
* Knowledge of network and system documentation, including knowledge of Microsoft Visio, and Office
* Ability to manage and coordinate projects involving multiple resources according to established deadlines.
* Sound knowledge of Freebsd, Solaris, and or Linux installation and configuration.
* Familiar with SGI Irix 6.5.x installation and configuration.
* Performance monitoring and tuning. Analysis of performance data.
* TCP/IP, including DNS, and DHCP.
* Knowledge of intranet and web browsers, creating web pages.
* Knowledge of scripting in Perl, PHP, Unix Shell and C.
* Minimum 3 years Unix System Admin experience.
* Knowledge of Crash Dump debugging tools
* Knowledge of Clustering technology, data and applications i.e. SQL
