Disk Storage Engineers are part of the SAVVIS Hosting Engineering and Operations Organization. The role of the engineer includes but is not limited to: operation and maintenance of Savvis as well as customer dedicated disk storage environments and infrastructure. Position Objectives:- Support operations and maintenance of the Savvis disk storage infrastructure. * Assist in training second level support engineers to configure storage requirements * Work with sales and customers on custom or unique storage requirements * Provide top-level escalation support for operational engineers and hosting customers Essential duties:- Set up and configure the required disk storage for customers * Perform all of the management functionality of the disk subsystem * Evaluate, integrate, and ensure timely implementation of potential new storage technologies * Address and resolve disk storage performance issues * Provide necessary customer configuration and installation documentation * Work with storage vendors to resolve service related issues * Implement disaster recovery responsibilities, processes and procedures * Work in a strong team environment with leading edge disk storage technologies Required skills: Experience with management and support of large Disk Storage Subsystems * Experience with RAID, SCSI, and Fibre Channel * Knowledge of SAN FC switch configurations * Must have excellent teambuilding and communication skills * Provide ability to plan and organize work within a tight team oriented structure Desired skills: Operating Systems
