Requirements Bedford/St. Martin's is seeking an Editorial Assistant for our English group. The assistant will provide support to several editors for college English textbooks, helping them with various administrative and editorial tasks while being exposed to the editorial function within educational publishing.

Major Responsibilities:
. Coordinate review programs to solicit instructor feedback on new book projects and revised editions
. Correspond with authors and instructors
. Research content, edit copy, and proofread
. Assist editors with book planning, development, and marketing
. Prepare manuscripts for production and act as liaison to the production department
. Oversee ancillary projects such as instructor's manuals, workbooks, and Web sites
. Perform clerical tasks such as copying, filing, processing invoices, handling mailings, and dealing with book project paperwork
. Provide other administrative support as needed

Required Skills / Knowledge:
. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
. Close attention to detail
. Ability to multi-task and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
. Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently
. Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel

Experience Needed:
. Teaching or tutoring experience a plus
. Previous experience and/or internships in educational publishing a plus

Educational Background Required:
. Bachelor of Arts degree
. English majors strongly preferred
