Senior Geophysicist GOM Miocene Exploration

Work on an exploration team in the Gulf of Mexico (GoM) in a critical role in helping to find new oil and gas reserves for the U.S. Use required toolkit to interpret (Paradigm preferred), model and map salt bodies, supra and sub-salt horizons within a team of geoscientists. Perform structural interpretation, using 2D and 3D data, for supra-salt and sub-salt sections. Define areas with high prospectivity and identify potential prospects. Perform well log analysis, identifying lithologies based on well logs and creating well correlations. Perform amplitude extractions to identify amplitude plays, and map in order to understand critical stratigraphic complexities of the reservoir systems. Mentor Foundation Geophysicists during their training rotations in the Gulf of Mexico. Define projects that best fit the Foundation Geophysicist in course, workflow design, and establish the methodology to be followed in order to achieve the objectives previously defined. Work across disciplines for complete geological trend and prospect maturation of petroleum systems, resource modeling, effective stress modeling and locating optimal drill locations for safe and high-impact wells. Perform resource calculation and prospect risk assessment in the subsurface for all the key elements. Interact with reservoir modelers to build and update reservoir models based upon reservoir performance. Work with a team of geologists, drilling engineers, assorted research and support personnel, etc. to develop exploration prospects that can be drilled safely and at reasonable risk by Hess and partners. Present personal and team results to various levels of Hess management and to partners to secure their buy-in on the myriad of technical details involved in drilling deep, high-cost wells. Requirements: Bachelor''s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Geology, Geophysics or a related field and 5 years of progressive experience as an Exploration Geophysicist or a related occupation. Experience must include the following: Geophysical processes (AVO analysis, seismic-well ties, synthetics analysis, illumination analysis, velocity analysis, forward modeling, rock physics and fluid substitution or similar) Gulf of Mexico sub-salt interpretation and sub-salt GOM provenance; 3d seismic processing including complex 3d anisotropic velocity model building; Well log analysis and correlation; Regional paleo-markers nomenclature across the Gulf of Mexico; and Depositional systems, turbidite systems and their depositional processes.
