Responsibilities Media Project Management - Manage development of book-specific web sites and course management systems, interactive media, and online projects in coordination with book development and production from signing through go-live/release to make media an integral part of the book story. - Manage schedule coordination, product design and implementation, and tracking of project details. - Facilitate the creation of media for class-testing, market seeding, and sales presentations as needed. - Additional duties as assigned Media Strategy - Communicate with marketing managers, sales representatives, and learning technology specialists to get feedback regarding market needs and to provide updates on Pearson and competitors'' products. - Work with Marketing Manager to prepare competitive analyses and product feature descriptions for media products. - Additional duties as assigned - Work on market research projects in collaboration with the market research team, including the creation of surveys and the planning of focus groups for assigned projects; includes writing questionnaires and follow-up questions. - Evaluate potential media projects and advise acquisitions editors upon request. - Support acquisitions editors in signings where media plays a critical a role. Responsibilities: - Write media plans, including key website and project planning documents, launch memos, and multimedia asset spreadsheets. - Disseminate media information to book team members as appropriate. - Create Requests For Proposals (RFP) and solicit bids from vendors, as necessary - Set up, own, and monitor budgets and schedules for media projects. - Hire and manage cross-functional teams, including media vendors, content-providers, freelancers, full-service project management vendors and quality assurance vendors as needed, and write freelancer contracts and agreements. - Facilitate communication among acquisitions editors, marketing/sales managers, and in-house technical teams to develop products accordingly. - Communicate product details to marketing managers and learning technology specialists in advance of product releases to help field customer inquiries. - Gather anecdotal evidence from sales reps, and report on media-related sales. - Create and update process documentation. - Additional duties as assigned Sales/Marketing Support: - National sales meeting preparation support (review marketing materials, provide samples as necessary, create walkthrough scripts of media, etc.) - Review and provide feedback on multimedia references in brochures, prefaces, or back cover copy. - Respond to queries within 24 hours by either providing a solution, or directing queries to the appropriate person. - Resolve queries as they are escalated from sales reps, professors, as well as Customer Technical Support. - Upon request, attend national conferences. Responsibilities may include: research competitor media, coordinate focus groups, demonstrate Pearson media, attend educational lectures on how media is being used in and out of classroom. - Spend a minimum of one day each year to speak directly with professors, attend lectures, meet with students, etc. Qualifications Minimum requirements: - Two years or more of experience in project management, preferably producing multimedia media projects, managing cross-functional teams - Strong project management skills - Excellent written and verbal communication skills - Collaborative, team player - B.A. or B.S. required Preferred qualities: - The candidate does not need programming skills, but an understanding of technical product management including products using Flash, Shockwave, Java, HTML, and XML. - Familiarity with user interface design and best practices - An interest in science and/or technology
