PURPOSE: Coach mentor and train national workforce to plan, supervise and co-ordinate the process plant mechanical maintenance activities in a safe and cost effective manner. Training of the national workforce using Newmont's safety, environmental and maintenance practices is an integral component of the job role ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Safety, Health, Environmental, Security . Advise and mentor National Staff in all HSLP, Environment and Social Responsibility requirements under Newmont's Integrated Management System, Newmont vision and values. . Accept personal responsibility for the health and safety of every employee under or assigned to his/her supervision. . Provide hands-on assistance during maintenance activities and ensuring that safe work practices are followed. Mentor the Shift Supervisor to conduct periodic safety meetings and inspections. . Mentor Mechanical Maintenance Supervisors to maintain a high housekeeping standard in the process plant. . Coach Supervisors to conduct and complete incident / accident investigations and take corrective action to prevent injury and / or re-occurrence. . Ensure that equipment isolations are performed in accordance to established procedures. . Ensure that security procedures are followed in order to minimize the opportunities for theft of gold bearing material or company property. . Comply with the Mine Regulation Act and Regulations (Ghana) clauses that apply to your work area. . Maintain a safe work environment through Newmont systems. . Ensure all safe working procedures are adhered to. Maintenance . Participate in interviews of prospective employees and conduct orientation for newly hired employees. . Ensure the transfer of technology from expatriate to National employees and champion National employee development through effective training and skill development programs. . Motivate teams in fostering a solid team atmosphere while maintaining a safe and disciplined work environment. . Set goals and coordinate activities with National Foreman to ensure that scheduled maintenance and emergency work is carried out to schedule. . Assist in supervision and training the national workforce in performing maintenance tasks for the Ahafo process plant. . Assist the national workforce to maintain the availability, reliability and efficiency of all Mechanical equipment. . Oversee new installations, including design, modifications and new installation start-ups. . Coordinate and execute smaller projects in the process area by following the change management procedure. . Ensure that adequate resources are available for achieving scheduled maintenance and repair needs. Review maintenance schedules and coordinate with other departments to assure optimal equipment and plant availability to meet business needs. . Respond to emergencies that could cause injury to personnel or loss of production. . Assist/mentor the Supervisor with the coordination of production shutdowns and start-ups to minimize delays. Assist team with troubleshooting equipment defects / malfunctions. . Assist in the development and review of the process maintenance SOP's. . Mentor the Supervisor to provide input of daily operational issues to the General Foreman, maintenance personnel, senior staff and management staff. Notify management of any prolonged variance. . Actively participate in continuous improvement programs which will assist in enhancing the performance of the Ahafo process plant operation. . Assist your Manager in developing operating methods and systems. . Provide mentoring in transferring knowledge, best practice and experience with hands-on technical assistance. . Identify and eliminate or report any wasteful practices. . Assist your manager to conduct failure analysis studies and recommend alternative strategies for maintenance. . Participate in call out roster. . Deputize for the Process Maintenance Senior Advisor Mechanical role during periods of leave. . Manage the Management Operating System (MOS) for Processing Maintenance at the processing plant. This role: is accountable for achieving and maintaining level 3 maturity for MOS elements identified as 'Accountable" in MOS RACI chart. o Takes ownership of the following MOS elements: ? Shift H'over Meeting (M2) o Is responsible for: ? (MN02) ? Capture Job Feedback (MN9) ? Identify New Work (MN10) ? Assign Work (MN11,M2) ? Job Analysis & Finalization (MN17) ? Monthly Analysis & Review (MN19 ? Quarterly/Annual Analysis & Review (MN21) ? Shift H'over & Line out Planning (MN34,M1) ? Short Interval Control (GEN01) ? The completion of all tasks identified in the Ahafo MOS to the specified quality and timeliness as assigned to this role. ? Resolving MOS Element non-conformances by direct intervention/coaching wherever possible or referring non-conformances to Superintendents and Manager for resolution if immediate efforts are not successful. ? Taking action on identified improvement opportunities to the MOS Element. ? Ensuring that all MOS Element documentation is current and approved changes to the MOS Element are communicated to all involved stakeholders. ? WORKING CONDITIONS: The position is located at the Ahafo mine site in Ghana, West Africa. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus. . Physical Demands: While performing the duties of the job, the employee is required to sit at a desk for periods of time, climb stairs, walk and stand. . Work Environment: Occasional exposure to noise, fumes, high temperature hazardous materials, sharp edges, dust, pinch-points, vibration, slippery surfaces etc. . Working Hours: Although the standard day shift working hours will be applicable, occasionally extended working hours will be required to meet operational demand TRAINING & EXPERIENCE: * Working knowledge in Ellipse. * Minimum 10 years experience in mechanical maintenance in a gold process plant. * Minimum 4 years experience as a Mechanical Supervisor in a gold process plant. * Strong working knowledge in the maintenance of crushers and grinding mill equipment. * Strong working knowledge in the maintenance of large slurry pumps and gearboxes. * Time management skills are also strongly required and Good interpersonal skills
