Discovery Creative is the in-house creative agency for Discovery Communications. We produce advertising and marketing solutions in digital, broadcast, print and out of home for all of Discovery Communications networks and corporate initiatives.
This Senior Art Director position requires a seasoned and experienced advertising and marketing creative with highly developed conceptual and design skills. This person will at times oversee and in most cases create work in all media including digital, broadcast, print and out of home advertising as well as branding and some web design.
This position will require very hands-on design and regular collaboration with other team members. Responsibilities:
* Conceptualize and help design and execute any or all the components of 360-degree campaigns for specific Discovery programs and initiatives as well as brand campaigns, particularly in the digital, broadcast and print areas. * Formulate basic layout design or presentation approaches on a multitude of projects, identifying material details ranging from photo assets to type, on-air graphics to video, print design to sound design. * Manage still photo-shoots from photographer choice to art direction to on-set direction to working with re-touchers on selects for work. * Contribute to video/broadcast shoots from concept to art direction to on-set direction. Also have experience in the editing and finalizing of these projects. * Collaborate with other creative members of the team, account services, production, photo and other departments to meet project and client needs and coordinate activities. * Confer with clients to determine objectives for projects, present work to clients and incorporate feedback. * Work to budgets and within tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment. * Review and approve proofs of printed materials, cuts of broadcast projects and digital executions. Requirements:
REQUIREMENTS * 6 – 10 years agency and/or creative broadcast marketing experience. * Solid portfolio of produced work including digital, broadcast and video production, digital advertising and other miscellaneous creative projects such as guerrilla and social applications. * Must be a team player with the ability to mentor and assist junior members of the team as well as execute and manage multiple people on multiple projects under tight deadlines. * BFA college or design program. * Must have legal right to work in the United States.
SKILLS * Strong design skills - Adobe Creative Suite 5, typography and page layout, retouching. Animation & motion graphics a plus. * Well-versed in digital design / UI experience / production (programming background a plus). * Some experience in taking video/broadcast projects from concept to storyboards to production to final edit and delivery. * Experience managing outside vendors (retouchers, artists, photographers, etc.). * Seasoned at presenting to clients and ability to sell in ideas with passion.
