The Role: Front End Engineer (Senior Technical Yahoo)
As a Front End Software Engineer at Yahoo!, you will specialize in building high performance, scalable, cross-browser compatible, accessible and elegant web applications with HTML5, CSS3, JS and other technologies. You will work hand in hand with world-class teams of other software engineers and architects as well as backend engineers, cloud data experts and computer scientists to build amazing and emotional experiences that will delight our users.

We have strong market positions based on our devoted users, massive brand and fanatic editors who create and curate the best Movies and TV content available for our users. We need engineers to come help us build on those strengths by rapidly innovating on these properties, envisioning, designing and developing new features that not only deliver value to our users but generate joy in their use. We want to reward our devoted users and fanatic editors by building Movies and TV experiences on desktop and mobile platforms that they simply can't live without.
Responsibilities:
. Build next generation applications for desktop and mobile browsers with an emphasis on emotional experiences and constant attention to scalability, performance, accessibility and cross-browser performance. . Partner with Product and Design to redesign and implement user interfaces . Envision and document designs for modules or components of overall solutions . Produce detailed engineering scope and specification documents . Map product requirements to engineering tasks, perform due diligence to identify dependencies . Mentor junior engineers . Participate in Yahoo! engineering community, discuss and provide input on best practices . Lead the way in quality, reliability and quantity of work output . Clearly understand, implement and evangelize best practices such as TDD, CI etc...
Minimum Requirements:
. B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent (e.g. 4 years work experience or IED/HID degree) . 4 years experience in Front End engineering (or M.S. CS and 2 years) . Expert in Front End engineering skills including Javascript, AJAX, CSS3, HTML5 . Expert knowledge of JavaScript frameworks and libraries (e.g. YUI or jQuery) . Server side technologies including PHP, Java, REST . Proficiency in XML, JSON . Customer-focused, react well to changes, work with teams and being able to multi-task on multiple products and projects. . Self-starter, team player
Preferred Qualifications:
. Experience with JavaScript templating (mustache, handlebars) . Experience with Maven, ANT, CVS, SVN, GIT, Hudson, jUnit, phpUnit . Experience with , YUI 3 . Experience with Test Driven Development, Continuous Integration
