The Linux Systems Administrator provides support for a 24x7 production environment and maintains the highest availability and best possible performance of servers and applications.
RESPONSIBILITIES: „X Executes all aspects of site planned/unplanned maintenance activities „X Utilizes monitoring tools to proactively identify problems with systems, applications, and networks „X Coordinates with partners, vendors, and support teams „X Assists in root cause analysis „X Perform management and maintenance of servers and associated operating systems including upgrades, patches, enhancements, audits, data backup, preventative maintenance and items on daily checklist „X Manage mid to large scale server admin (Cluster - Server Farms - NAS) „X Manages VPNs and networking hardware such as firewalls, switches, routers „X Review, audit, define and implement Service security policies and procedures to safeguard critical systems, information and data „X Manages system backups and recovery as needed „X Handles problem resolution; tracks problems and changes „X Handles execution of jobs and maintenance „X Defines and implements to improve process, monitoring, workflow „X Performs Linux server and workstation administration „X Keeps current with technology used in datacenter „X Executes/updates Standard Operating Procedures from simple to complex „X Follows/enforces processes needed to maintain operational stability „X Provides post-program analysis. „X Create and maintain high-quality documentation of all relevant specifications, systems and procedures
Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS: „X Bachelors degree in CS or related technical field „X 3+ yrs system administration exp in a Unix/Linux environment (CentOS preferred; Red Hat ok) „X Expert with TCP/IP and Cisco hardware „X Strong knowledge of TCP/IP and networking principles, web technologies, and security „X Working understanding of Linux troubleshooting commands in regards to disk I/O, CPU usage, load, and network connections & usage „X Proven shell scripting ability „X Experience with Server Clusters and NAS equipment „X Expert experience in network and systems security essential best practices „X Must be available to support in a 24x7 production environment „X Self-motivated team player, able to set priorities and manage deadlines „X Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and customer service skills „X Demonstrated ability to quickly resolve problems and perform well under pressure „X Must be able to multitask, be process-minded, and detail-oriented
